Everest Region

The beauty Nepal attracts millions of visitors every year. This small ancient, land-locked country (147,181 Sq. Kms.) nestled between India and China, is home to more than 24 million people, 40 ethnic groups, 70 spoken languages, and many religions.

The Everest region is the most popular trekking destination in Nepal, but it is more difficult to reach to Solu Khumbu than to the Annapurna area. To reach Everest, you must either walk for 10 days or fly to Lukla, a remote mountain airfield where flights are undependable.

Solu Khumbu is well-known, not only for its closeness to the world’s highest mountain (8848 metres), but also for its Sherpa communities and monasteries. The main goal of an Everest trek is the Everest base camp at an elevation of about 5340 metres. But you cannot see Everest from the base camp, so most trekkers go to Kala Pattar, an unassuming 5545-metre bump on the southern flank of Pumori (7145 metres).

From Tengpoche you will have an excellent view of Everest and its more spectacular neighbour Ama Dablam (6856 metres).
